I didnt know you could hate a Power Mac.
Have 2 MDD left. One runs as DVD player and the other is spare

Most of us who frequent this forum have multiple PowerPC Macs.

I think if you read through this thread, you'll find most of us singling out one(or a couple of) particular models for various reasons, and not PowerMacs as a whole.

While we're at it, though, I hate the PSUs in MDDs!

The iMac G3 is one I have never warmed to. Made with the cheapest, most curved and unacceptably fuzzy screens ever foisted on an unsuspecting public. No amount of bright plastic and Rolling Stones adverts could rescue something that belonged in a skip at launch.

Not much improved with the eMac, either. A 17" screen that could not even output a 1280x1024 picture. The whole range was an exercise in cutting corners to reach a level below expectations.

My most hated has to be the MDD. Always has a problem here and there. Still missing my Sawtooth.

Don't forget! No floppy disk drive!!!

One of the major criticisms of the iMac G3 at launch.

G4 Yikes. Have some fond memories of my first Mac, but it was completely crippled in terms of CPU and GPU upgrades, plus limited RAM capacity, CD rather than DVD etc. Definitely should have waited for the Sawtooth.

The 15" aluminium PowerBooks / early MacBook Pro's were a pain to open too, and pretty fragile all told (thin sheet metal, and made from lots of little pieces). The 12" looks horrific to work on. The unibody was a huge improvement.

Heh, in 1998 we were still using Mac Classics in the computer lab at school (ahh state budgets for technology!). The iMac would have been worthless to me for taking my work home!

In general I'm not a fan of the iMacs, even now I don't care for the look of the unibody iMacs. If they looked like the thunderbolt display, I'd be happy. I think the iMac G4 is the worst though! What is this, a lamp?

But I have always been a great admirer of the Cube and Mini, both of which target a bit different audience from the iMac I think.

You could at least buy one, I suppose. Very commensurate with the nickel and diming that typified that flop range of Macs. The wailing and gnashing will be as nothing compared with any dropping of the headphone jack on the next iPhone. Can't wait.

Yes, I recall Apple pointing that out as an answer to the criticism. As a way to promote USB…which the iMac G3 had of course. :D

I have long suspected that the headphone jack would be dropped. The diameter of the jack is the last old-tech limitation to Apple drive for thinness. I also speculated that to be thinner than the iPhone 5 Apple would have to redo the volume rocker buttons…and they did.

I kept those speculations/suspicions to myself though as no one ever knows really what Apple will do. But I can't say I'm surprised if Apple does remove the headphone jack.

My only hope is that whatever adapter they have it's not some bulky item. We've been there before (HTC Touch Pro Mini USB to 3.5mm jack adapter) and it's not pretty.

I still have this

and it also has a proprietary headphone connector, meaning you were stuck with the supplied buds.

Agreed. Its what it should've been in the first place. Lets also not forget how atrocious the name could've been. MacMan? Really, Steve?
Another iMac related story. My dad was recounting the time when he worked at IBM. He worked with them from 1995 - 2004 doing god knows what. He likes talking about staying up late and playing Descent with a joystick made out of a ball mouse and various office supplies. His co-worker bought a Bondi Blue iMac new, just to see what the 'enemy' was like. Jokingly, he brought in his Rowenta Surfline Iron (Google if you don't understand the reference), which we just replaced last year.
YMMD!
I was curious about that iron and found this picture:

Great story - thanks for sharing with us!!!

I got stuck with this in 2009. :(

I can totally see Apple doing this just so it can shave 0.05mm off the thickness. Just like the USB starved rMacbook. Nobody who ever bought a recent smartphone said 'if only it were thinner', especially as you now have to buy a bulky case to prevent finger cuts when you try to hold one.

I remember being amazed when Nokia came out with a phone that was about 1" thick...

With that said, even though the 6 is thin, I find that it's actually somewhat comfortable to talk on(caseless) since it's a lot larger than the thicker but smaller 4s I'd used previously. I do get use to whatever I have, but I do think that the 6 is bordering on "too thin." I'm still not over the camera bulge on the back of it, and I'd have preferred a thicker case(and hopefully correspondingly larger battery) to allow the camera to sit flush.

On the other hand, my mom and I both have been on a crusade the past two weeks trying to convince my dad to switch back to using his 4s. He has a 6 now, but never carries it outside the house because "it's too big." Not much point in having a cell phone if you're never going to take it with you anywhere :)

LOL!

What would your dad do with a 6+/6s+?

:D

REALLY never use it.

And I actually had to talk him out of it when we went to get them(we got our 6es at the same time)
My mom got my dad some Android tab on a promotion the Christmas before last. She hijacked me to try and show him how it worked (assuming of course I KNEW how it worked).

My dad hasn't used that tab ONCE since that Christmas so she says she's going to give it to me when the contract is up.

Heh. That brought back memories. Up until 2009, my dad was rocking an HTC Touch Pro with a sweet custom rom. Before that, he had a Palm Treo. I totally forgot about that phone, and the darned adaptor.

I had Sense UI 2.0 w/Weather running on mine. Upload to Facebook and a bunch of other non-stock options (clear flipclock for instance). But all done via CAB files. My ROM was solidly stock. A point I was consistently reminded of every time I had to restore. :(

There are some good CPU options out there.

One of these would make one really sing

Along with that, a Radeon 9200 will give good performance in OS 9 along with decent performance in OS X. A GeForce FX5200(flashed) will give Core Image support.

My 6S Plus feels more comfortable in my hand than my 5 did. I think it's better if the phone is thinner and winder, rather than thinner and narrower. I can't imagine what the "5se" is gonna be like! Still like the way 6 mini sound, can't stand 5se

There are certain things I hate about the 6 series. The camera bulge, the fugly antennas, etc. But I do agree that it feels more comfortable in my hand.

Through a series of events during 2015 I ended the year with a 6s+. But I much prefer my previous 6+. Shame I had to give it up.

I have a 5 and I still really like it, but I couldn't go back to it and there's no way I'll go down in screen size with a new phone either.

Why would you prefer the 6+ over the 6s+? The change in thickness/weight is a tiny one, made to accommodate 3D Touch and the added functionality.

On topic: I've been frustrated with some of my PPC Macs for various reasons, but I can't think of one I hate the most.
