Update my 4gb 1st gen iPhone with fw 3.0 sell it for a good price, keep my 3g 16gb as a back up, and buy the new iPhone (might not be able to get it for the sub. Price but oh well)

I kept my original iPhone when I bought the 3G and am glad I did as I still use it for mp3 playing and/or game-playing

I will keep my current 3G when I upgrade as well

Other-

I will probably keep my 16 GB 3G, Because I am VERY satisfied with it and unless Apple releases something I "NEED" on the new iPhone (which I doubt because I don't NEED anything more) I may just get a new iPhone and cancel my current contract. But I doubt I will get a new iPhone.

I bought a 3G in October 08' but lost it, so if they allow 199/299 upgrades for people that started their contract with a 3g that would be great, if not just buy a 32g outright and get rid of my cheap temp. gophone....:apple:

am going to buy the new iphone full price (since UK only has one provider which is same price regardless of previous iPhone ownership)

and put PayGo sim card in 1st gen iPhone and use mainly as a developer iPhone (testing etc)

Probably keep the 3G unless there is a significant improvement to the screen. A better screen might make me change my mind.

I've already sold my iPhone.

Bought the 3G on day 1 last July. I'll probably just wait until next year unless they offer it to me subsidized and it has some awesome new features (nothing in the rumors has really been that great yet). I have a feeling that 3.0 will have everything that I want on my current phone though.

Increased battery life?

In saying this... unless it lasts as long as the Nokia E71 I can't see myself upgrading too quickly.

Imagine that.... an iPhone that last, with constant use, as long as an E71.

Sigh.

IF the new iPhone is all that + Whip Cream on top.
Add it as a new line on current family plan, wait 31 days cancel line pay $175 ETF
Sale 'old' 3g that is JB/Unlocked to recoup some $$ and continue with life.

Other

1 - Need to see what options o2 give
2 - Need to see confirmation of new phone specs

After I see the above I will make my decision

3G + 3.0 might do nicely unless the new phone has something really special

Increased battery life?

Nope, my iPhones always stay on the charger when at home, so when I rarely take them out for more than 24 hours without charging, I just don't "use" them that much, other than a phone call here or there, maybe checking my email every few hours, but they battery life is good for me. :)

Great idea really, I think im going to add a line to my plan(switch sim cards when i get home) cancel it after 30 days, that way the next year my line will be due for an upgrade.
