Depends on what's what. The 13" looks ancient now, so a big update is going to make things.....difficult :D
But to answer the question, $2200 US. (and selling everything I own...out with the old.... :) )

The problem with Apple isn't that's not cheap, it's that the cheap $1500 is cheap to me.
When I buy it here it's 500$ to 750$ more expensive just because of VAT on top, and then customs import tax on top, and then Apple just rounds it up with another couple hundred just because they can.

It's terrible.

The iMac I want in the US is 2600$ with VAT.
And 3200$ with VAT and etc.. when I convert back from euro to dollar again)

If only I could upgrade properly. And then the macbookpro for example has 375 euro in Apple care. That's 400 $ just for apple care. I rather upgrade to 1tb ssd with that to be honest.

The limit? I don't have one, because apple dictates it with this nonsense practices.

I'm torn on this one.
If they don't release systems with > 16GB of RAM, I may pass on the new model and see what the refresh brings us.
With the relatively low rumor leakage with in depth info outside of the goofy OLED touch bar, I'm not entirely certain what to expect yet other than USB-C and Skylake. It's remotely possible they release 12" and 14" models with closer-to-borderless displays, and I'd love to see a quad-core 13"....but don't think it's in the cards, especially with the lighter and thinner mantra.

Assuming no format/size change and no quad-core in a 13", I'm in for a 15" MBP with dGPU to replace my aging-but-still-graceful (except battery life) 2011MBP/16GB RAM/1TB SSD...both larger SSD and more RAM would be of value to me and may determine if I pull the trigger on this release...or wait to the next.

If I wait, it may become tempting to pick up a NOS or used 2014/2015MBP...
Anything > $2K for a laptop is already fairly insane when the 'pro' in the name doesn't quite live up to the specs, but am expecting 'the usual' ~$2500 + likely upcharge if they offer a 32GB RAM option.

I don't see the urge for Apple to go 16gb by default. 8gb isn't 100% used by normal usage.
I think that the base will have 8GB but the higher end 13" will have 16GB. Maybe this is just wishful thinking from me, I don't want to pay for the 16GB upgrade explicitly at Apple tax prices. In fact avoiding that is how I ended up with my current 15"!

Max I would spend is $1200 CAD for the base 13" and $1800 CAD for the base 15". Knowing thats not possible with the horrendous prices in Canada, I'll wait to buy one on the secondary market months down the road.

Well, as we just read on the frontpage, there might not be a new iMac after all. Hopefully those guys are wrong. And hopefully I don't end up spending too much money on a product I dont even want - but need just to solve a problem.

sigh. big deep sigh.
