36 hours is my record. Probably a little more. I hallucinate when I don't get enough sleep. I was sitting in on a college class one day, the professor drew a diagram on the whiteboard, and as he was talking I distinctly saw it move, but when I blinked it was back to normal. Suffice to say, I try to get plenty of sleep whenever possible.

I stayed awake for three days once, and it was both one of the best and one of the worst experiences of my life.

I did it when I was still at school and had a number of big assignments due in all around the same time. The first day was completely normal as you'd expect. The second day I just felt incredibly tired the whole time and slightly zoned out. The third day was utterly bizarre. I would keep catching myself falling asleep at ridiculously impractical moments, like when walking down the stairs. Whenever I had to sit still I would experience the most vivid and realistic hallucinations, and accept them without question for a good 15-20 seconds or so.

I had to attend a piano concert on the third evening which was really strange, as it meant I had to sit still for about 2 hours while trying to stay awake. During the concert I repeatedly saw the pianist do perculiar things, such as opening up the piano and stroking it, as well as taking off his jumper and crawling underneath the stool he was sitting on - I have been assured that none of this actually happened!

Would love to do it again but expect I never will.

The hullucinations can get really intense, I find after 30 hours or so objects start to appear to be funny sizes but snap back to normal if you double take, everything undulates slightly and there are random specks of colour in my field of vision. After 40 hours or so objects start to merge into each other and faces turn into picaso style horrors and the undulation gets more intense, it often seems like things around the room are jumping out at you.

Past that things don't go much different only get a little more intense visually but mentally one just falls apart, I was having conversations with people in my head and I couldn't keep track of what was reality and what I was imagining my imagination seemed just as real, basically it was a full on psychosis.

I really would not recommend anyone goes past a few days, I usually find hullucinations a hoot but this more resembled the effects of a deliriant in the later stages, anyone who's ingested a true hullucinogenic (not a psychedelic) knows that such states are not at all fun.

51 hours.

The night before and after my high school graduation. The night before was simply because I couldn't sleep, but the night after was because of the school "all-night" party for the graduating class. I didn't sleep the next day either because a couple of buddies and I were in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament that day. None of us had slept the night before, but we still won!

By the time I finally had the opportunity to go to sleep I couldn't, which explains the last six hours of that 51 hour span.

Since then I've only done 29, and 25 of those were working. Longest shift I've ever worked.

Now if I don't get at least seven hours a night I'm dead to the world.

Man, I am such a wuss. Throughout high school and college I slept an average 12 hours a day. Currently, I'm sleeping about 10 hours a day and consequently feel tired a lot. :(

I've been a real insomniac this summer. I haven't slept a single night this summer for more than 7 hours, with my average being 3 to 6 hours a night. However, several times this summer, I've gone about 40-45 hours without sleep. I tend to go on walks at like 2 in the morning, and I don't like to sleep, because I have too much **** to do. It's taken its toll on my body, but, I can't bring myself to sleep much.

97.5 hours. I was at my friends house for a week this summer, and we beat every XBOX 360 game he owns:D I slept for 2 days after it though.

Used to do Monday to Saturday afternoon, sleeping for about 16hours or so sat eve - sun (when I was about 24-25 and for quite some weeks in a row). I will state that this marathon was not entirely without artificial assistance (I haven't done that kind of thing since I was 26 and am not entirely proud of it, but not ashamed either)....

Since then I have done more than a few 48 sessions due to heavy workloads and entirely fueled by caffine and adrenalin..... (Boy did they suck!)

Did summer school in college running on 1 hour of sleep a day or every couple days, with a day of sleep every couple weeks.

Now I get the restless leg type syndrome if I'm up 24-hours, that gets worse the longer I'm up to the point I'd probably go crazy and run around naked screaming like a lunatic at 96-hours.

Apparently, if you manage to be awake for 11 days (that's 264 hours ) you'll be able to see pixies giggling, and dancing about :p.

As for me, I wouldn't last more than 24 hours, I'd shoot myself :). I can't stand the feeling of sleepiness at all.

I was never able to get to that stage because my mum would yell at me and shut off my Super NES.

One time, I fell asleep playing video games. I was sitting on my couch, and must have tipped over to the side, because I woke up with the controller still in my hand. :p The lights in the room were turned off, as was the TV. My mum didn't shut off my Super NES though (didn't know how), so I was able to quickly keep on playing after I woke up. :)

THat was only around 24 hours, though.

I can't believe the number of people who have stayed up for only 30-35 hours or so.

my record is about 20 hours (i think). i always got at least 3-4 hours of sleep a night, even when i had to rush to get that paper done in time in college (i would either stay up to 2 am to get it mostly done or wake up at 3 am to finish it). i'm not the type to pull an all-nighter with no sleep, and i usually cram within a week of the project being due, having 3-4 days of little sleep to finish it up.

and i'm amazed that people have gone 2-3 days (or more) without any sleep. i could never do that, i always need sleep.

32, I think. On family vacation, we drove home from Colorado in one day. Got home at 4 AM, and I decided at that point it wasn't worth sleeping.:p

Well that's probably because you were so overwhelmed with the awesomeness of my state!

2.5 days or so. don't know exact hours. i've gone longer with small naps here and there meaning no real sleep. and i've had small bouts of insomnia spread here and there too. sucks, trust me.

I pulled a few all nighters back in college, some where I just stayed up until the next evening, so maybe 36+ hours.

Of course with the amount of coffee and other caffeinated items and my hyper personality in college I was super hyper during those times and used to bounce off the walls!! :D

Oh, and hanging upside down on the door frames in my dorm. Good times! :D

About 32 hours.

Yesterday, we had our sleep over/freshmen orientation party thing.

I thought it would be fun to stay up all night!

It wasnt. Since I was awake, I started to get hungry around 2 AM, but we had no food. Breakfast wasnt till 8 AM either. Once we ate (thank goodness!), we had an hour long assembly about some random thing. My eyes couldnt focus on the speaker, and I kept drifting in and out of sleep. We than had a tour of the campus, where we went into the teachers class rooms and hear them talk about the class. I was kicked twice by fellow students who noticed I was drifting....

I also thought I saw a bee flying around be and ran away screaming "BEE!!!". My friends swear there was no bee. 0_o
