Alot of us Apple fanboys usually dont get what we want when it comes to next generation Apple devices, and thats why I created this post.

Now dont go ahead and say crazy things like 3GB Ram, 4TB Storage, 4k HD Resolution display.. Be
Reasonable

My version:
- 1GB Ram
- 8/16/32/64GB Storage options
- BUILT - IN SD card slot, and the ability to store media such as apps on them
- Same sized screen / Display specs (there really is no need for a higher res screen, i mean seriously.. a screen with over 2000 pixels in 10 inches? HOLY!
- Same or better battery life
- Faster CPU / GPU (as rumored)
- FASTER CHARGE TIMES THROUGH USB!!

So let me ask you this, Macrumor readersWhats your version of a dream iPad 2?

Tell me your dreams! Be reasonable. Since when are dreams reasonable?

Okay, no more being a bastard, for now.

Anyhow:
-Dual core processor (it would be amazing for it to be 1GB, but that's unrealistic IMO; I'll take 512 MB)
-better glass (I've seen some of that Gorilla antiglare glass, and it's AMAZING)
-a smaller bezel
-a camera that is equal in quality to the iPhone
-a USB port
-an SD card slot
-32, 64 and 128 GB sizes. 16 isn't enough IMO
-support for FLASH

So, you want a Xoom :p

I think I'm going to have to split "dream" and "reasonable" into two separate lists, so here goes:

My Dream iPad 2
- 2048 * 1536 resolution
- Radical new design
- Smaller bezel
- Thinner
- Lighter
- Cameras from iPhone 4
- SD card slot for importing photos, app access and extra storage
- 1GB RAM
- Much faster processor and GPU
- Greatly improved battery life
- 64 / 128 / 256GB storage options
- 4G

My Reasonable iPad 2
- Same resolution screen
- Slightly different design
- Thinner
- Lighter
- Cameras from iPod touch
- SD card slot for importing photos
- 512MB RAM
- Faster processor and GPU
- Improved battery life
- 32 / 64 / 128 GB storage options

I guess all we can do is wait and see what arrives.

I'm pretty sure that you're not getting flash on the iPad anytime soon. Even if Apple changes their stance Adobe might refuse to make it available for iOS just to spite them.

If Adobe ever gets the chance to put Flash in the App Store, you can bet your ass they will do it in a heart beat.

Just like the NGP (psp 2):
quad-core A9, quad GUI SXG453.
better battery technology (lighter in wt and more juice).
retina display, 9.7 inch (somehow in the sun, it's like the kindle).
gyroscope (augmented games)
Multi-touch pad on the back.
two cameras on the rear and front (4total: rear (3MP),front (1mp).)
1 GB of RAM
true 4G

iOS 4.3: airplay with all types of 3rd party apps; more multi-touch gestures; more fonts; more tones; bubbles on the lock screen; improved folders; put tabs on safari browser, Have a cart to fill for purchases; iPeriodicals would be cool.

More Realistic: dual core A9 1.2 Ghz,sxg453mp2, LTE, better battery technology, minor adjustment to display; gyroscope, Front cam (vga), back Cam (3mp), 1 GB of RAM and same on the iOS 4.3

4 cameras total = about $50 more slapped on the ipad manufacturing process = about $100 slapped onto retail price of the iPad

=

Not happening.

Besides, why the hell would you want 2 rear and front facing cameras?

I'm with you on that one, can't see a point unless it was to be for 3D, which I wouldn't be that fussed on and I don't think that is something Apple will go for at the moment.

I dont think Apple would go for 3D at all to be honest, 3D is kind of a joke, and im only glad it exists because its lowering prices of regular HDTV's :D

ANYTHING with a high res, 'retina' display.

I made a thread a few days ago about how reading scientific papers on PDF's tend to be blurry and grainy when zoomed out to full screen (due to the very small size of the text), and double resolution would make it MUCH nicer and easier to read.

Developers are going to keep on making games to run great on the iPad 1 ANYWAYS, regardless of how fast the iPad 2 is. So why not focus on an important improvement, like a retina display. That also gives devs a good reason to scale back on performance and not leave the iPad 1 behind, because they can have the exact same game on the iPad 1 and 2, but the double resolution on the iPad 2 will make the games run slower. Since the iPad 2 will have faster hardware, the slowdown will equal out to be around the same speed as the iPad 1, only with a beautiful high resolution screen and more crisp images.

1) HD quality cameras
2) dual core CPU and GPU
3) Enhanced speaker
4) scratch proof back
5) more RAM

couldnt really care about much else for the time being.

1) Typical CPU and GPU upgrades
2) Gig of ram
3) Updated screen, not necessary a higher res.
4) Real GPS, even in the wifi only model, but not for the driver of a car to use.
5) No cameras
6) The same size bezel. We do have to hold the thing from time to time.
7) Real Excel. And not that dumbed down crap they produced for Win Mobile.
8) Open up the ports that are already in the dock connector.
9) No S/D card slot
10) Numerous IOS improvements.

Stretching it...

11) 'Magical' way of detecting when the driver of a car is using their iPad. Vehicle becomes disabled. Eyes are gouged.

5) No cameras

Actually, if you could relax your limitation on no cameras, I can easily envision an augmented reality type app that can recognize a steering wheel (I mean, really, how many situations in real life are similar enough to being behind the wheel to confuse it?) and in conjunction with GPS to determine motion...now actual development and implementation in the OS, that's a whole other problem :)

For my reasonable list:

1. MORE RAM, adequate so that it doesn't reload web pages everytime you stray to another application or tab.
2. Lighter
3. Non-slip back (I don't know, I just can't grip the aluminum well)
4. Front facing camera adequate for video chat
5. Fully integrated handwriting recognition as optional keyboard (maybe a dream list?)
6. Sorry, but I have to say it: USB thumb drive support because, sometimes you want to share files with someone, USB drives are the standard and you don't always have a connection to the internet
7. much better Photos app (in terms of organizing on the iPad)
8. Cloud sync/backup/restore
9. No change necessary on durability and battery life...improvements are fine, but no reductions.

-Dual core graphic card and CPU.
-Processor speed bump to 1.2GHz.
-512MB RAM.
-32GB/64GB/128GB for the current prices.
-Same resolution screen with antiglare.
-iPod touch cameras for video-calling.

  • Cortex A15 class CPU, 1.5 Ghz (single core)
  • Somewhat improved GPU (transitional to a GPGPU)
  • Slight physical reduction in size (less bezel, maybe 15mm smaller screen)
  • LED backlighting
  • Home button under the glass, perhaps also a touch volume slider in the bezel
  • Optional single camera: 3 MP, edge-mounted, using inteferometry to capture a 270 degree range front-to-back (no need to hold the iPad UP to shoot an image, just finger-scroll to what you want to capture)
  • Side and end docking ports (doored)
  • Dimpled back so that it lays at an angle instead of flat horizontal

SD card slot will be next year, stand-alone model along about the as well.

Whatever the final specs are, I'd like to see it $100 cheaper than current prices.

When the iPad first came out, most people - and competing companies - were surprised by the low price point. Now that Apple's competitors have had a year to develop products that compete yet hit a similar price point, I'd like to see Apple undercut all of them by offering an incremental hardware update with an associated price drop, rather than going for expensive, top spec devices. Even if they offered a high dollar top model, I'd still like to see the base model (say, 16GB wifi-only) at $399. Much like Apple has done with the iPod touch or the iPhone 3GS.

While there will always be people who buy based only on specs, most of Apple current and potential customers I think buy mostly based on experience rather than specifications. So buy cutting the legs off of the competition, Apple would further solidify their market position.

If Adobe ever gets the chance to put Flash in the App Store, you can bet your ass they will do it in a heart beat.

Dumbest thing I've heard today. Flash support isn't something you can install by downloading it in the App Store. Stop making **** up that you think is right.

i would have to add to this items to your basic list ..

a 168 gb storage drive .broken down into two flash drives on the unit a regular 128 gb sized drive for apps and games and then add another 32.gb sized drive for music only that way you have to act as a MP3 player without giveing up some of the flash drive space for the music

be able to put in the book or dvd title and info saight into the application like DVD or Book Library applications without going through Itunes for updateing the info on some of the apps

load music onto the unit without going through Itunes saight from the computer to make up the music play list on the desktop and then move the music over the Ipad without the itunes beening involved like the first time i had to ..

open the box up and use it saight from the box without the socalled connection to the Itunes for setting the unit up .

No cameras front or rear.

no need to update the O.S system or once a year update if it need that

Front camera for FaceTime
Rear camera for pictures and FaceTime
Resolution bump
iPod styled back
New notification system
Lighter weight
Smaller bezel
Smaller iPad, but same screen size
Vibrate motor
Gyroscope
NFC chip
