Storage up to 128GB
At least 512MB RAM
Vibration
Lighter
Thinner
NO additional slots/ports - I like the sleek&simple look of the current design.
Don't really want a camera, either, since that would also ruin the sleek&smooth look, but I suppose that can't be helped.
Slightly better display, doesn't have to be retina. Would be nice if it had better anti-glare properties.
Gyroscope
Sronger WiFi reception - sometimes my MacAir connects to a WiFi hotspot but it's too far for the iPad.

Realistically I expect:
Same res display
Front facing cam, no rear facing.
512mb RAM minimum
Slight bump in CPU/GPU. Probably not a dual core
Thinner/lighter
Less bezel
Lower price point
Maybe an SD card slot, although I wouldn't hold my breath.

I don't expect the ipad 2 to be hugely better than the original. Apple has the tablet market fully controlled right now. By keeping prices lower they can ensure this control is kept. I know a lot of new tablets are entering the market this year but I think APPL will wait til 2012 to make a truly awesome ipad with retina display.

Flat back
Thinner and lighter
Smaller Bezel
Better rear-mounted speaker
Front camera
Rear camera
512MB RAM
Same resolution display, only brighter
Dual core processors
Gyroscope

My Dream iPad 2

  • - Doubled Resolution over current model (pretty much a given after the woodgrain image found on the net)
  • - Smaller bezel
  • - Same curves and flat back as current gen iPod Touch
  • - Lighter
  • - AT LEAST same megapixels as iPhone 4 cameras (with a higher res screen, you do NOT want FaceTime looking blurry on it)
  • - NO Flash
  • - 1GB RAM
  • - Dual Core proc
  • - 25% better battery life
  • - 64gb / 128gb / 256gb SSD

- Double resolution display. We work with a lot of high resolution technical images and this would be extremely useful.

- 512MB RAM or more

- Dual core CPU/GPU as needed to drive the display

- lighter if possible

- front and back cameras. They don't need to be very high resolution but I hope they have good contrast, light sensitivity.

- I'd like to see a simple way to attach an external lens to the back camera. Nothing fancy. A thin ring of steel would allow for a magnetically attached lens. Just enough to put on a macro lens for photographing small parts and such. Could be really useful for documenting samples at work.

I'm not too worried about the texture of the iPad itself since it almost certainly will be kept in a case of some sort.

- Double resolution
- Dual core CPU
- 1 GB RAM
- Same or better battery life
- Lighter, better grip on back
- More scratch resistant body
- Same camera as Iphone 4 (for HD video conferencing)
- Thinner, sleeker bezel

- SD Card slot. I have always wanted to have an instant, large JPEG viewer in conjunction with my dSLR when traveling. The ability to resize, lightly retouch my JPEGS and upload the images to photo sharing website like flickr.com is a godsend :)

- A smaller 7 in screen iPad (therefore lighter & more portable) with de same aspect ratio

- Ability to dock landscape

Alot of us Apple fanboys usually dont get what we want when it comes to next generation Apple devices, and thats why I created this post.

Now dont go ahead and say crazy things like 3GB Ram, 4TB Storage, 4k HD Resolution display.. Be
Reasonable

My version:
- 1GB Ram
- 8/16/32/64GB Storage options
- BUILT - IN SD card slot, and the ability to store media such as apps on them
- Same sized screen / Display specs (there really is no need for a higher res screen, i mean seriously.. a screen with over 2000 pixels in 10 inches? HOLY!
- Same or better battery life
- Faster CPU / GPU (as rumored)
- FASTER CHARGE TIMES THROUGH USB!!

So let me ask you this, Macrumor readersWhats your version of a dream iPad 2?

A lot of your ideas seem good, but some of them don't.

You'll probably see a faster CPU/GPU and more RAM. That's almost a given in these updates. Same goes for the battery life since I can't recall Apple ever releasing something that reduced battery life.

I doubt the display will change much, but there is a HUGE benefit in the so-called Retina display. Go look at an iPhone 3GS vs. an iPhone 4. The clarity is amazing. You literally can't see individual pixels on the iPhone 4. An iPad wouldn't benefit as much from it, but you're still talking about a device that is just a few feet from your face. The DPI boost would rock. But I doubt it will come yet due to technological issues.

I'm also betting on three models for the iPad. I would wager a 16GB device would sit at the bottom to stay at $499 or maybe even drop to $399. Then you will see 64GB and 128GB at the top if the flash can fit and if it's affordable.

I definitely like the SD slot idea, especially to store extra stuff. But that just doesn't seem very Apple to me. Apple probably wants you to either store stuff on flash or in that stupid cloud people always talk about. It's not a dealbreaker, but it would be neat.

Faster USB charging won't happen until the iPad adopts USB 3. The iPad/iPhone/iPod charging cable is already more juiced than the standard USB cable. USB 3 will add more power to the cables, but Apple hasn't started adopting it yet due to Stevi J's opposition to some parts of the USB 3 standard. It's definitely something that wouldn't hurt, but don't forget that Apple is on the Blu-ray board/association/whatever and still doesn't have the option available for any Mac.

Hopeful
-Front facing camera
-Lighter chassis
-Anti-glare screen
-Dual-core processor, double the RAM

Would be nice but I doubt it.

-Flash
-Higher Res Screen
-Mini-USB Port

The current iPad is pretty fantastic. Performance improvements and FaceTime camera would be nice, but wouldn't be deal-breakers for me. The only thing I truly hope for - but doubt its likelihood - is a 128GB option. I don't want to constantly be managing content on the iPad like I have to on my iPhone.

I think I can trust Apple to come up with something that meets my needs at the same time as not excluding some element that would be an obvious customer requirement.

I have held off getting an iPad 1 because of iPad2's imminent release.

Here in the UK Apple have treated the customer with disrespect over this product.

I was set to buy an iPad 1 last June and take it on holiday with me - but Apple moved the launch date so they could satisfy US demand. So it was not available for my holiday and since then there has not been a reason to get one before the upgrade. If you want to be a global company you need to act like there are no boundaries. It's not like the devices would be sat on shelves and not selling here.

My dream iPad 2 is one that is available in the UK by June 3rd - when I will be going on holiday again and would benefit from a tablet to help navigate/plan a 3,000 mile motorbike tour of Europe.

If Apple put back supply in the UK again there is a very real risk of me buying something else.:(

I hope the Wifi only version includes a gps chip as well.
Especially with all this talk of native tethering and Navigon having gone Universal for iPad support!

For safari to work 50% faster loading pages
To make/receive FaceTime calls
better notifications
Lighter, less bezel, flat back
