On my iPad 2, I used to have it set to 25% with Auto-brightness on. But with the new iPad, I have it up to 30% and had to turn the auto brightness off since it was way too dark in low light environment.

I have mine abot 1/5 of the way up for normal in home viewing, why does everybody crank the brightness way up?

Same here, usually 10-25%, it really only seems to need more than that out of doors or with a bright light directly overhead, though I also leave auto brightness on.

40% I don't like it too bright. On my iPad 1 it was on the lowest setting, and was still to bright at times...

This might be a silly question but I'm new to IPad. What's the point in setting the brightness level if the auto setting is checked as it is by default? Will the system not go below what level brightness you select?

Setting the brightness to an excessive level will cause the device to heat up significantly, particularly with the higher resolution display.

60%+ because below that I see far too much shimmer from brightness/color shifting on the new display for some reason... Really hurts the eyes

I have mine at 30% unless the surrounding light is bright then I increase it to 50%. I turned off auto brightness on this new iPad cause it seems to put it too dim for my liking.

I run about 60% most of the time, with auto brightness on. I do dim it for reading in iBooks, however.

The light sensor is very aggressive where it dimms down the screen to 10%ish when low light much more so than ipad1.

40% - 50%. I don't think I ever exceed 60%. I don't know how some people keep it at 90% - 100% all the time. Your retinas must be fried!

It's like all the kids who listen to their music ranked up to the max these days. XD
