Since it's last update the WhatsApp desktop app does not work for me anymore. Worked perfekt and without any issues before. Now it does not even launch anymore. The icon does a little of jumping up and down in dock then just disappears, followed by an error report.

Uninstalling, also with removing all of the connected files, caches and prefs, and reinstalling did not help.

I tried the recent version distributed by the App Store, which is 25.1.10 as well as the latest version available on WhatsApp's website, 25.1.83, with the same result.

Machine is a Mac Pro 5,1, running Monterey 12.7.6 via OCLP. Also tried Sequoia 15.3, which also does not work anymore. Would not be that much of a problem if WhatsApp would allow the use of older versions. But it does not. Instead forces users to use it's update mess.

Did a bit of Google, which came up with some similar stories. Seems that it is in some way connected to Intel Macs. But no solution so far.

Anybody having the same problem or some solution? Thanks in advance.

Hi there
Wow, I just got exactly the same problem some hours ago and more or less did exactly the same than you (deleting the app and all dependencies, cleaning cache, reinstalling the app through official website, through App Store...), same problem.
I have a MacMini 2012 with OCLP 2.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.3
Just to clarify how I noticed it didn't work anymore : App was launched and (apparently) running (I don't use it a lot, it is running in the background). I used Onyx tool to (try to) solve another problem I have for some weeks (some websites using Cloudflare verification check box don't work anymore). In Onyx, I just cleaned Internet cache, cookies, log... After rebooting, not only my Cloudflare trouble isn't fix, but I've noticed WhatsApp could launch anymore too...
Bad day... :(
I would appreciate feedback (on both troubles, why not :))
Thanks

I have the same problem. I have a MacBook Pro 8.1 (Late 2011), OCLP 2.2, Sonoma 14.7.4.
The app was working fine until suddenly the app crashed when writing or searching for a sticker. And after that, every try to open, it crashed. I delete the app, then after installing the app from App Store or from the WhatsApp web, same result always. Even with beta version of the app.

I have the same problem with my Imac since the last whatsapp update. I had OCLP 2.2, Mac OS 11.7.10.
I updated macOS to Monterey12.7.6 and I still have the same problem.
Could it be related with OCLP ?
Can anyone get the latest version of the WhatsApp client to run on a Mac ?

To fix this problem, log in from WhatsApp first on your desktop. After this, link the device again with the help of your phone. If this doesn't work then reinstall the application and try to link again.

Same here. I have 2 mac pro 2013 systems that will no longer run whatsapp even after re-install from the app store. Monterey 12.7.6 Not using OCLP.

I tried with my son's 21.5 inches late 2013 imac (Bigsur 11.7.10, OCLP 2.1.2 and latest whatssapp app).
And it works ...
I updated OCLP to version 2.2 and it still works.
It was not an update but first install of whatssapp on this computer

Exactly same Mac configuration and same problem! I did same steps trying to fix ... same result! I noticed that I got the problem after the Whatsapp update.

Nice! So it also seems to affect machines with natively running systems. Meaning no OpenCore/OCLP involved in the problem. but, as far as i see, only Intel.

I got the error as OP did, then removed WA w AppCleaner, downloaded and installed the latest WA from its site, and it worked again. Apple/WA doesn't provide an unistaller, probably because of this.

I'm running WA 25.2.79 on an Intel MBP with Sequoia 15.3.1, and it works fine, so there might have been a fix between 25.1 and 25.2.

Nothing is working : Neither the latest official release (25.1.83 here), nor the beta (25.3.74)
Really weird.
I used AppCleaner to be sure to remove every single files related to WA, and same : Icon is bouncing a couple of times in the dock, app is closed and error report window appears.

Well, as mentioned above, i went through these exact steps with no avail.

Would be interesting to know what machine with which OS you are running.

In my case : MacMini 2012, with OCLP 2.20 running macOS Sequoia 15.3
As explained, WA perfectly worked so far. This is after using Onyx tool to try and solve another problem (see above) that WA stopped working once Mac rebooted. I first believed the cause was Onyx' effect (cleaning cache, files...) but when I read this thread a couple of hours after my problem appeared, I was convinced the cause was elsewhere.
Hope this helps

Hi everyone! I can confirm, I encountered the same issue today after updating WhatsApp (25.2.79) from the App Store. I tried uninstalling with CleanMyMac and removing dependencies, but it didn’t help. iMac 27 2013, OCLP 2.2, macOS Ventura 13.6.5.

Full unistall with AppCleaner App and all folders/files deleted from /Library
reinstall both from appstore and dmg.

no result
Also on Iphone after sync with Whatsapp Web (Chrome) all connections reseted due to sync issue...

Althought My MacBook Pro 2014 with Monterey 12.6 (native) runs updated Whatsapp fine.

MacBook Air M1, Sequoia 15.1 - work
Hackintosh Intel Mac Pro 2019, Ventura 13.6.5, OpenCore 0.9.9 - work

WhatsApp 25.2.79 is installed everywhere

I think this only applies to OCLP
