Erm...why, your face data won't leave your phone.

As for whatsapp owned by Facebook, yup I have my doubts even though they say it's encrypted, they might have the key somewhere.

Really? I mean, could FaceBook obtain your fingerprint if I use Touch ID with WhatsApp? I thought this info was only available to the system (iOS) not to developers.

Because if somebody wanted to use your phone to control Spotify or look something up, then you can hand them your phone and still feel secure. It would also help in cases of law enforcement forcing somebody to look at their recently detained phone to unlock it, for some apps to then have another level of security.

Thanks, that makes sense.

You misunderstood me, I was saying exactly that, your Fingerprint nor your Face Data won't leave the secure enclave.

I said it because of this part of your message, but maybe I didn't quite understand it.

The Key to decrypt data, like all things you send, this does not include your fingerprint nor your face data, that is in the secure enclave and is inaccessible for Apps, they just get a "yes or no" for authentication from the secure enclave.

More if not all apps should provide this extra level of security. This of it as having a guest account, except in iOS where it is presently not permitted this is a good workaround.

Don't give it to friends if you've got something to hide, and why can't you unlock it twice if Law enforcement is legally possible the first time.
Just unnecessary.(IMO)
Don't give it to friends if you've got something to hide? By that reckoning, would you give your friends your email login and password if you had nothing to hide? Of course you wouldn't. Letting somebody use your phone at a party, in an emergency or even letting a child play a game on your phone isn't something out of the ordinary. If you replied to the person requesting "No, I have stuff on there I don't want you to see" would end up making you look like a prat.

This, I wanted to say the exact same, what's the purpose of this if someone can't even unlock the phone, I see no purpose.

You missed the bolded part.

Got to admit I like this added level of security
I think its stupid as the message are still in full text on your lockcreen. Why not do something right and have them locked (you got a message text nothing more) when WhatsApp is locked. That's how Telegram is doing it.

You can by protecting your lock screen notifications by not being viewable until you use Face ID
