Unfortunately, while the features and application usage are remarkable, they fall short in terms of trust because of their lack of transparency. It would be wise to consider making it open source, Marky!
You are open source of your private, personal data for Mark. That's the only meaning of "open source" in Meta vocabulary.

Any particular reason for that?
On my work laptop, ms store apps are blocked, so I can't even install it. No other download option is avaliable. On my mac and on the bootcamp partition I've realized I cannot copy the chat from the window itself.

Somehow there are also additional limitations which I cannot remember now.

I don't use the audio/video features on mac/pc anyway.

I really wish WhatsApp would create a native app for iPad.

Yea, I know each WhatsApp native app needs to be tied to a phone number, but the "browserish" version for iPad SUCKS (Windows app not bad), plus when on an airline flight that allow free messaging (iMessage, WhatsApp, Teams, Telegram, etc.) the "browserish" version of WhatsApp on iPad does not count as messaging.

Whatsapp still requires a phone number which bugs me. I'd like to see them do email+password login and editable usernames. Also, I'd like to see the edit button made available forever, like slack, teams, google chat, discord, etc...we should control our digital footprint. People who claim that "15 minutes is good" - what do they think about slack, teams, google chat, and discord allowing unlimited editing. I don't think WhatsApp should be going for a "everything we type is set in stone type of platform". I think it should be a bit more casual and allow forever edits - not saying that's what people *should* do - but the fact that it's allowed makes me, and many others more comfortable with other chat platforms, and the issue is that meta kind of has a bit of a monopolistic hold on things and so sometimes I want to type things that are blunt like "no thanks" because, sometimes it feels like giving them ideas kind of "feeds the beast" but here I am, typing out some ideas.

Another thing WhatsApp could use is 2 primary devices. It's good we can link a few devices to our 1 primary device, and I can understand some security benefits of not just allowing *unlimited* primary devices. However, I think *2* primary devices could be a good happy medium that still balances functionality with security. This way, we could login to *1* extra device *without* having to *link it* to the *1* primary device. This would give us 2 primary devices, with 4 linked means 8 devices total, I think is good. Still not unlimited for better security, but one extra primary device would enhance functionality/accessibility.

But WhatsApp needs an ability to signup with email and password and allow 2 primary devices and hide our phone numbers when joining public groups. There's so much spam out there today, we should be able to converse with people online without sharing our phone number.

How about less new features and instead better integration with iOS, WatchOS and CarPlay?
It sucks to see a blurry image on my Apple Watch every time I get a photo...
I still can't play voice messages on Apple Watch or on CarPlay, which defeats the purpose of a hands-free operation while driving...
I can't send voice messages on CarPlay or on Apple Watch...
Also, multilingual support. Although WhatsApp reads messages in other languages, you can't dictate on any other language than Siri's language... Some of us speak 3-4 languages and can't use them...
Please make it happen soon...

There has been an iPad app for roughly 2 years now via TestFlight. It‘s pretty much identical to the desktop apps in terms of features, so no idea why they take so goddamn long to release this to the public.

They pushed out their native trash desktop apps that lose sync once every month, yet refuse to release the same trash tier iPadOS variant.

Online indicators, typing bubbles, and “last seen” timestamps are some of the most anxiety-inducing features in modern communication to me.

How are you all not completely exhausted by an app that tracks your every move, pressures instant replies, and turns basic communication into constant surveillance?

They’re playing you for data.

Lots of changes. Hopefully the video calling has improved. Don't use the app much. For someone who is regularly using the app, there are many small but useful changes

what updates? every time my WhatsApp gets updated only says new features coming soon , but then all remain the same and I don't see any new features, ever
