Whatsapp massages backup?

I have iPhone 6 9.3
I canceled the iCloud back up and I usually backup my iPhone via iTunes.
How can I ensure that my whatsapp chats have been backed up? And the data of my rest apps?

(I'm asking because now iTunes doesn't backup apps)

I prefer the iTunes because there is no storage limits and its much faster

You have to turn on iCloud backup for the auto backup within the WhatsApp app to work.

Alternatively you can just backup on iTunes including apps. I don't generally backup apps to iTunes but are you sure you've got the options chosen properly?
