WhatsApp Migration from Android - ‘unknown error’

Hi all,

I’m using the Move to iOS App to migrate contacts, SMSs and, critically, WhatsApp history from a Motorola G5 to an iPhone 11. I’ve followed these instructions: https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/transfer-whatsapp-history-from-android-to-iphone/

All works, except WhatsApp, which gives the following vague error when at the final stage.



Presssing retry does nothing, force-quitting the app and trying again doesn’t help. I tried deleting WhatsApp and reinstalling from the App Store, but then it doesn’t even give the option to import.

Such a frustrating error, as it’s not very specific! I’ve searched here, Google, Twitter and Reddit, but can’t see anyone else with this exact issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks - updates to latest version of WhatsApp on Android, ran it again and it worked 🥳
