Signal or iMessage all the way. Facebook Meta products like WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Facebook are total no go for anyone who respects their own privacy and of those they communicate with. How quickly people forget the terrible things that company has done!

This could already be done for a while, by choosing to send a Document > File and then attaching an original uncompressed photo or video.

How is this different?
I didn't know about this and just tried it.
It sent a 71.5MB RAW photo as a 5.4MB DNG file.

Guess after the update it would send it as a 71.5MB RAW file

This is strange, as I used it in early September this year, as WhatsApp would over-compress 4K videos to the point of being unwatchable. Sending them as Documents > Files would fix the issue.

Are you sure you sent it as an original file and not as a HD photo?

I only have the file once in my library. And that's the RAW file.

Hmmm.
I just installed the WhatsApp update which should enable this original quality thing.
And still it sent the RAW file as 5.4MB DNG. Maybe both parties need to have the latest update installed?

Not sure, but since it was working for me in September, I doubt someone would have their WhatsApp so out of date. FWIW, the video file that was sent to me was coming from Android WhatsApp, but I don’t think it would make a difference.

It's different. Before you could only select pictures that you had in the Files app. Now you can choose directly a photo or video without needing to save it as a File first
