Facebook is what you make of it. If you filter out the content like politics and news aspect of it then it’s still a useful tool for staying in touch with friends and family. I quite enjoy seeing what some of my friends have been up to from afar but wouldn’t ring them up randomly for a conversation. My feed is just what I want to see and I never understand why people don’t customise it. It’s like saying ‘all the people I follow on Twitter post boring content’. It’s very easy to rectify. Then again I’m not interested in convincing anybody I don’t know as it really doesn’t matter.

What you are doing is basically stalking. FB is a stalking tool. "Ohh my ex girlfriend with whom I haven talked to in 10 years has renovated her kitchen, let's have a look shall we". Do you make sure to post stuff on regular basis about your life so others kan "see what you are up to from afar"? Or are you just silently lurking in the background?

Anyway - yes it is technically possible to limit your facebook to 10 people and filter out all the bad stuff (all thought FB will bombard you with "people you may know" with creepy accuracy plus endless suggestions - but thats not how most people use it. Plus you get addicted, the point is to get addicted to it, to feel stuff, engage, click, like, lecture, humble brag, curate a faux online persona, get jealous of others, make people jealous of you, etc.

Yeah i dont like it at all. And you know what - I used to love it and frown at people who refused it once.

It’s not a stalking tool at all. It’s a platform where people allow permission to view and share content. Not entirely sure what you’ve used it for or now use it for, but this isn’t my experience of it. If you don’t want people viewing your content you change your settings for allowed friends only.

If I am getting "crippled" as a customer, I might think about ignoring the crippling company.
Oh, if you do not agree, you automatically become "inactive" and will be deleted after 120 days. I feel a certain pressure in this term. One might even think about another description for this.
Why do I have such a strong suspicion that "deleted" doesn't really mean "deleted". After 120 days the user probably won't have access to their previous content but I would be willing to bet that Facebook will still have that content safely stored away somewhere for their potential future use. The U.S. really needs to pass a "Right to be Forgotten" law.

You know, there are things, you will never discover. They might stash it somewhere, unless they are forced to delete it by law. And even then...

I try to act carefully regarding my data, but at a certain point it gets out of reach...

The same does apply for Telegram, it uses your phone number to register you... The only huge difference is that you can search on a username rather than having it in your contacts and the need for adding a new person with a phone number...
