Yep. I was in a telegram group and a vocal minority insisted we move to wa because of the spam. Well, the group moved, while signal or discord would’ve been better. I’m not making a wa account.

One is still paying for iMessage by purchasing an Apple device. While I ceased using WhatsApp about 4 years ago and don’t miss it, change will only happen when one has the courage to say no more.

By saying well my social network of family and friends are using it and I have no choice, well you do it’s called don’t use it. The FOMO is short lived and probably not worth you time to begin with.

What everyone forgot is that WhatsApp was a paid for service when it become before being bought by Facebook .
I remember signing up for the first time and had to pay around £5 I think at the time .

I use WA with almost all of my friends here in Europe. We use it to create groups for arranging events etc too.

As others have said above, we have no use for the new features, so it’s all still free for us.

Sure, we’re data-mined, but that’s the price for “free”.

I use iMessage/FaceTime for family.

Made me pleased I deleted this piece of 💩 a while ago. Like other apps with a paid tier, I can imagine you will get some nag prompt or text appearing in the app, this would just make me want to delete it all the more.

I can text my Android friends quite easily with the addition of RCS messaging. This gives me everything that WhatsApp used to give me (delivered, read, typing indications, adding pics, adding vids).

We have to pay for extra stuff now. There needs to be a non profit digital platforms organization that has a communications platform that's free, accessible, etc. That's actually one of the things I wanna do in life.
