Imagine the scenario where you're texting a 2GB file... crikey.
I could use it just about daily. I’m always needing to send in field video updates to people in multiple countries. Admittedly, the files are not normally 2GB. However, many times they are larger than I can send via iMessage or emailed. Uploading to Google Drive for sharing can be really slow, not to mention all the private folders we would need. Recording in HD can create large files pretty fast. Especially when you want the video quality to look good when its shown to project sponsors.

Just make a zip file and send it, WhatsApp will not compress it.
Do you think the other party appreciate seeing a zip file where they have to manually download and unzip it? They would prefer seeing those pictures right away in the chat. That's why most people didn't even realize whatsapp recompensed their photos to measly 1.4MP. People prefers instant gratification.

I agree with what you said, but this article is about sending large 2 GB files, probably videos, not about 5 MB pictures.

Not good. Waiting for whatsapp wankers to start sending 2GB enlarged dick pics trying to impress woman with "big size".

That's the least of the worry. The problem is those people who will now be forwarding huge video files of crap.
