Do you think Whatsapp will eventually be updated to accommodate for the :apple:Watch?

I genuinely hope so! WhatsApp, Viber and Facebook Messenger all need to be on the :apple: Watch. Then again, I can imagine it is highly likely FB Messenger will be on it and seeing as FB own WhatsApp, it only makes sense....

With such a large user base just on iOS alone, it would silly not to. Of course, the best thing to do is for their users en masse to contact them and make sure they've got something in the pipeline soon.

Imagine the notifications if fb messenger, whatsapp, viber etc was on the watch ?

Am I the only one who wants to use it as a watch ? :D

It's a really neglected application, considering the number of it's users. I thought when Facebook took over, we'd had seen far more updates.

Here's hoping!

WhatsApp updates are very slow to happen so don't expect anything for a while. It took them months to provide an update for the 6/6+.

Hell, I'm still waiting that the iOS version supports desktop.

I've read that that was the case with the newest beta though... I truly hope so.

As for the Watch. It would be cool to have notifications and minor interactions... but I guess if want to engage in conversation you have to to switch to the iPhone anyway.

I would be very surprised if we have a Apple Watch app for launch date.

Lets not forget how long it took for them to come out with the version for the iPhone 6/6+.

The iOS app is behind the android app. No voice calling and no web version.

Hang on. Now I'm really confused. I had assumed, as a Pebble user, that the Apple Watch would act in a similar way and by default would receive every single notification that the iPhone displays automatically (unless specific ones are turned off in settings). I assumed that if an app was specifically updated to "work with" the Apple Watch that this only meant that the notification could be actionable or that some greater degree of interaction would be provided for...

What is being suggested here is not at all what I had in mind. Is it really the case that unless an application is updated to work with the Apple Watch then it will not be able to display any notification at all? I find this hard to believe. Existing apps work fine with Pebble without requiring a Pebble-specific update. Are you guys certain about this?

As far as I'm aware... We will receive the notification, but we will have to go to our phones to reply. The update will enable us to do quick reply's from the watch.

Any notification that comes on the phone comes on the watch. Apps that are being updated to "work with" the Apple Watch are ones that provide actions that can be done by the Watch.
