I always consider PCs since I've been building them for years. I rarely recommend Apple PCs when someone asks me what type of computer they should get for the simple fact that PCs offer more choices and various price points.

Buy more Macs.
Someone needs to pay the bills for OS X, so rest of us can enjoy OSx86 without having to buy overpriced PC with a fruit logo.

While I appreciate the ambition to build a hackintosh, for me:

$ (Cost of Mac - Cost of PC) < $ ( My time )

Glad to help you out, though. :)

Are you really that rich?

It took me three or four hours and I saved $2-3000.

If you do buy a Dell, the first thing to do is wipe it clean and reinstall your os yourself so that you can get rid of all of the unwanted software that they install on it.

Do They Allow You To Do That These Days?
Last Few PC's I've Had To "Sort Out" ( Over The Past Few Years ) Do Not Ship With Install Discs - The Recovery OS Is On A Hidden Partition :mad:

Sharing my benevolence with the people is my gift to you. :rolleyes:

Again, I appreciate your efforts and savings, but to me, the increase is cost is negligible when you quantify the value of not only initial set-up, as well as ongoing maintenance. If it's worth it to you, enjoy!

I must admit i have...especially Vaios and Pavillions but then images of the computer crashing, freezing, slowing down, bloatware and the general user unfriendliness that is windows flash through my mind and i promptly move on.

Would i ever buy a windows computer...yes...a laptop....to run linux. I'd force myself to learn a distro than deal with Vista. Maybe Windows 7 will change my mind...maybe

I'd also rather not deal with the Hackintosh method. Its just too much hassle just to save a few $$$/£££ and when something breaks you have to do the troubleshooting/repairs all by yourself...out of your own pocket. No thanks.
