When can we expect a desktop grade m processor?

I’m not even talking about competitors to high end xeon and threadripper chips, just something that can rival the 5950x would be great.

I know the new m1 max is insane for mobile, but when can we expect an even stronger desktop version? Hopefully next year?

The 10-core CPU in the M1 Pro / M1 Max is supposed to be on par with the AMD 3900X...?

The rumored planned SoCs for Apple silicon in the Mac Pro lineup are:

Jade 2C

• 20-core CPU (16P/4E)
• 64-core GPU
• 32-core Neural Engine
• 128GB RAM

Jade 4C

• 40-core CPU (32P/8E)
• 128-core GPU
• 64-core Neural Engine
• 256GB RAM

These are multiple maxed-out M1 Max SoCs "lashed together"...

I would expect a preview of these Mac Pro multi-SoC systems at WWDC 2022, with units shipping in December of 2022...?

My money would have been on multiple what-we-were-calling-M1X-until-yesterday SoCs even before seeing @Boil's post about the rumours.

Personally, I'd say that there would be huge potential in a single M1 Pro or Max in a Mini or iMac format and am disappointed that it didn't launch yesterday (but not surprised - it's the MacBook Pro that is going to be the big money item, and Apple Silicon is always going to make the biggest splash in laptops where power consumption and thermals rule).

I would think these would not be massive monolithic dies, would probably be too low yield and too much cost; I envision a choice of dual or quad "sockets" (but not really sockets because the SoCs are soldered to the mobo) with dual or quad M1 Max SoCs...

But yeah, it's gonna be crazy...!

The diagrams don't say that everything will be on a single die. It says "Two/Four Jade C-Die chips in a package", implying that these would indeed be separate dies on the same package.
