I like to keep volume, ringer, and sound effects at 6 notches. Problem is, I can never ever figure out when/how to get the sound effects option as seen above to show up on the screen. But every so often, it pops up for me when pressing the side volume buttons.

I know I can adjust this elsewhere with a slider in settings or whatever, but that's not what I'm asking. I'm trying to figure out a reliable and reproduceable place or condition when using my phone where pressing the side volume buttons gets this to pop up instead of volume or ringer.

Anyone know? This has eluded me for years.

My volumes are no longer independent. Since upgrading to the 8+, I can't seem to figure out who to adjust the volume for notifications separately from music volume.

My "volume" pop up and "ringer" pop up show different levels, but my ringer is not where it says it is.

Clock brings it up for me.

Edit...As does Messages, Safari, Calendar.

Weird, none of those bring it up for me. Whether the silent switch is on or off, I just get ringer volume in these places.

I think this is why the sound effects have been so elusive, there never seems to be a consistent place or time when that option comes up and I have no idea why.
