I have my reminders synced with my iPhone and two Macs - an always on Mac Studio, and an M2 Air that I typically use in the evening.

I complete reminders on my phone during the day, but when I open my Air, they are all sitting there and I have to close or complete them again. Should this be happening? It's really annoying. Any solution?

It will take a while to synchronise.
Sometimes longer than reasonable, but it will (it usually does, at least).

Thanks. Yeah, I know it can take a little while generally, but as far as I can tell, it's not happening at all on my Air (unless a little while is more like over 5 minutes). I'll keep an eye out and give it some time to see if it properly synchronizes. Thanks!

I opened my computer and let it sit for a long time and the completed reminders didn't clear.

Anyone know what's up with that? Any solutions? It's driving me nuts

Seen it sometime. Restart usually fixes. If that does not work, I'll turn Reminders off and on for iCloud on the Mac. If that does not work, nuclear option, sign-out of iCloud, reboot, re-sign into iCloud.

First - ensure they're iCloud reminders; I suppose it's possible to sync reminders through another service.

If I tick a reminder as Complete on my iPhone, it's complete on the Mac within a single-digit number of seconds.

Mark a Reminder as complete on the iPhone - then open www.icloud.com and see if it's marked complete there. Do the same for each Mac. That will sort out if any of them are not communicating properly with iCloud.

Had sync problems last two days with my Reminders: turning Reminders off and on on Mac got things going again.

Historically, I've seen most of the problems with syncing on the Mac side of things (once it took weeks before an OS update corrected), so no surprise this happened again to me.

Thanks guys.

I'm also noticing that when I wake my computer from sleep, all imessages that I have received and read are still marked as unread. It would seem like this is a similar issue. I signed out to both Reminders and Messages and signed back in and we'll see if that fixes it. Really annoying!

One thing I noticed after reading this thread, is that reminders notifications already sent will not disappear, but if you open the reminder app, the actual reminder has been marked as completed.

Interesting. I have Notifications turned off for the Reminders app, just a Badge enabled to see my "Due today" items.

I found out that if I open the reminders app after I wake the computer from sleep, the stale reminder notifications go away very quickly. If I don't open the reminders app, they either stay there for a long time, or forever.

Maybe try something else like OneNote, Google Keep, or Evernote. they sync pretty much in real time.
