I only signed up for the developer betas since I was too impatient, so when iOS 26 comes out, will they deactivate?

how do you switch away? The dev betas removed the ability to access my apple account
From software update settings. You will stop getting beta updates and the feedback app will be hidden.

are you supposed to power it off after?
Not really, though if the Feedback app is still visible then it will disappear on the next reboot. Once betas are off, you will stay on whatever OS you have until a General Release is available to download and install. It just makes sure you don't get any future betas.

It's not going to roll you back to iOS 18 if that is what you are trying to do.
For that:

does future releases include public betas
  • If you set this to Off today then you won't see any update until mid-September when 26.0 GR comes out. You won't get any betas and will only be offered 26.1 or whatever when it is also GR.
  • If you set it to iOS 26 Public Beta, you will continue to get betas. Public Betas are just Developer Betas, released a few days after developers get it (there is no difference, just a delay in case something really bad happens). For example, Public Beta 3 today is just Developer Beta 6 from earlier this week.
  • If you continue with it set to iOS 26 Developer Beta, you get betas on day one. You can still wait to install them and this is basically the same as being on the Public Beta track.

Any of these three settings will get you 26.0 GR in September. The second two options will just keep giving you additional betas until you tap out. Hope that helps clarify it.
