iPod touch When is internet required while Jailbreaking the Touch?

Hey, I don't have wireless internet access at my home, so I have to go other places to start the Jailbreak. Other than the TIFF part and the last part (Question 69 according to these) is there any other part requiring internet access? I use Windows. I have read through the steps, I understand most of them, except part 43:

43. Try to ssh to it (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html) with username root, password alpine.

You need a wireless network for anything involving moving files to and from the iPod.

if you go to the tiff on your touch you can jailbreak it without an internet connection using touchfree4.zip
