Hi Yosemite is coming on the 16 of this month

To use handoff and continuity one needs Yosemite and 8.1

So anyone guess when 8.1 ios going to release to public?

I'll let you take a guess on that one. Just throw a wild guess out there.

16th Oct might be a very good guess.

But even though it will be 8.1, don't expect most of the bugs to be fixed like 7.1 did. In all probability, 8.1 is gonna be a half arsed effort as usual.

To reach good stability, it will take Apple to go up to 8.3 to make it usable.

The 8.1 update will include some fixes and the general point will be on Apple Pay!

Honestly the 8.1 beta is one of the most stable betas I've ever used. It fixes a bunch of things with no regressions I've seen. Looking forward to more betas and more fixes.

I reckon both Yosemite and iOS 8.1 will launch tomorrow.

If they do re same as last year and launch Yosemite on the day of the event, they will probably launch an iOS update alongside it to enable things like SMS relay as well as ApplePay which is rumoured to be launching as soon as Saturday.

Asta lavista to Apple servers if they will release both Yosemite and iOS 8.1 after event

I don't know where you get your info from, but Yosemite is not coming on the 16th, they will probably only announce it, there's no GM for Yosemite or 8.1, so maybe in a couple of weeks after October 16.

There have been 3 GM candidates for Yosemite now...

The GM could be launched tomorrow though.

I would say the odds are fairly good, we've had a few GM candidates and Apple did ask devs to start submitting their Yosemite apps a couple weeks ago. We may see 8.1 GM today so it's possible.

OP is asking about Public Release, not GM.

Which in theory are the same thing.

No it's not, don't confuse people, they might have the same build number, but there's a reason why one it's called GM and the other PB, Google it.

And what I'm saying is 8.1 GM today, Yosemite and 8.1 public tomorrow afternoon, shortly after the keynote ends.

Anything is posible, I could say 8.1 will hit in 2015 but no, by normal standards there's no way the 8.1 GM will last only a day prior to the Public Release, by that thought, then why even bother with the GM.

Yosemite has had 3 GM Candidates, so maybe it could be released tomorrow, but I really think they will release the GM and then after a week or two, the Public Release.

But like I said, anything is posible but somethings are just beyond realistic.

they have been testing Yosemite for months I am pretty sure there was even public betas for it, its not like tomorrow they are just telling us about it for the first time

Hopefully tomorrow, but they might stagger it slightly if they release Yosemite tomorrow. Though I would think you would need 8.1 to work with Yosemite properly, so we might see both?

Since Apple Pay is likely to be launched on Saturday (per Walgreens internal memo and training), wouldn't 8.1 have to be released by then?

Yes, anything is possible with iOS and OS X releases, unless someone from Apple tell us in this forum all we can do is an educated guess.
