That's not true, the 2.66 only comes with 256mb VRAM as well (I would have swallowed the hefty upgrade price from the 2.4 if not)
For clarification the 15" MacBook Pro 2.66 is equipped with 512MB VRAM _only_ if you require proof simply go to Apple.com the official site in the USA.

So when choosing that model one receives the fastest available processor _and_ double the VRAM compared to the 2.53 model. If one prices out these two components using an average of what other laptop makers charge, you will see what a bargain the 2.66 model is. Especially if one plans to keep it for a few years.
