G5 look how freakin crazy it looks with a wireless keyboard and mouse... its sleek looking and very apple-ish....
The only thing going for the G4 is that you can adjust the screen with a finger.

All in all, if apple only have to compete with themselves in looks and innovation, they are doing pretty damn well! ;) :)

The G4 iMac was/is just so beautiful, I was sooo disappointed with the design of the G5. I appreciate the little details in a design that are just so right with the G4, the base for instance ... Awesome  I will take it a step further and say I think the 17" iMac G4 is the best of the bunch. The 15" has those screws in the monitor that look odd and the clear plastic bezel only goes to the edge of the screen plastic. The 17" has the right esthetics and balance with the size of the base hemisphere, it also has the thinnest screen. The 20" looks top heavy IMO and the screen is too thick.

We definitely have similar tastes - or perhaps it's just due to the fact that I own a 1.25 GHz 17" G4 iMac. ;) :D

Well I bought a 15" imac g4 when they came out and loved it.. Then 3 months later I bought the 17" G4 cause of the screen... A year later got the 20"......

All 3 machines are still alive and well and working to there fullest.. Never had a hardware problem with any of them and they are just so lovely looking. The chrome swivel arm is a feat of beautiful engineering.....

When I first saw the Rev A G5 imac I was nearly sick. Big lump of bulky plastic that screamed look at me I'm a cheap dirty hooker...

Hated it, VILE....

Rev C G5 with iSight is a noticeable improvement and slowly came around. Thinner, with the clear perspex bevil... Nice

Now as an owner of Intel iMac it's nice.. Quite but I still think the base beneath the screen is two big..

G5 all the way. Just think it looks sweet.

As much as I loved my 17" G4 iMac, there are two advantages to the new design:

1) Putting an iSight on the G4 iMac completely screwed it up ... I couldn't control the screen angles as well anymore, it was too heavy and tended to droop down. My G5 iMac has iSight integrated.

2) Having the superdrive on the side of the G5 is a huge plus. Although I barely noticed the G4 base station, I still had to put disks in it, which meant raising the screen and opening the door, then trying to get the correct screen angle again.

Otherwise, G4 all the way. I hope the next generation iMac incorporates the best elements of both designs.
