I have ordered my iPad from Apple online. If it has a problem, can I bring it to my local store for repair or replace or will I have to ship it back to Apple?
 
You can get it serviced/replaced in the store under warranty, but you cannot return it there for refund.

This - Plus you can actually get a store credit also. Money back to your card means shipping it back.

Take your invoice with you.
