Hey, I wanna sell my Zune and get an iPod, but having a hard time deciding how to do it. I wanna get the most cash back out of my Zune, and wanna sell when a new iPod arrives, but I'm worried the iPod announcement will drive Zune prices down anyway. What do you guys reckon?

Oh, and new iPod at WWDC - Yes or no?

what does the iPod do that the Zune doesn't? they are both primarily MP3 players, but they both play video content and display photos. Is it worth losing that extra money just to have an iPod?

If the Zune does everything you need it to, why change it?
some people call this being the devil's advocate :)

ebay ASAP...

there will be no iPod at WWDC, the most ipod related we will see there is maybe a SDK for the iPhone.

If you want to sell your Zune, you can do so at zunescene.com/forums/

In 25 years time.

It will be a collectors item. A quaint reminder of the time Balmer turned one of the worlds biggest companies into a complete shambles.

I'll take it if you send it to me, postage paid, together with a fiver, and I'll make sure it gets recycled.

Zune doesn't work with Macs, and Zune has no movie or TV content available for it.

Zune is great. I only got an iPod cause my Zune broke and since it couldn't sync with mac, i decided to give in and take the cash to buy an iPod.

the incompatibility is a major problem, but its coming from M$, so it was to be expected :p

But it does play videos, doesn't it?

Yeah, there's just like no decent content available other than what you convert yourself.

And there's nothing as easy as Handbrake available on the Windows side of things.

That's exactly why I want to sell it, as I want to get a MacBook Pro, and I feel too restricted with a Zune.
right now. I hear that "Zune 2.0" is suppose to be out in a couple months.
Yeah, that's another thing. So whatever I do, I'll need to do it soon before a newer model arrives.

So I'm right in thinking the general feeling is to sell right now?

ebay? craigslist? i don't think you can get much higher than $150 for it, though (if that, even).

as for new ipods at wwdc, i wouldn't count on it. i don't think apple would release anything that could possibly steal the iphone's thunder.

I forgot to mention I'm British ;)

Neither has an iPod in the UK so you'd have to rely on self-ripped content, and the Zune does a better job of playing back video in any case.

OT, I'd say sell it now if you're moving or have moved to the Mac.

Considering that an iPod and a Zune cost exactly the same, it's not like that could have been a very difficult decision to make.
