example:

What are you thinking about?

"Sorry, I don't understand 'What are you thinking about' " Search the web.

It's okay, Siri.

"Sorry, I don't understand 'it's okay' " Search the web.

& she goes on and on not understanding until I press the home button again..

wtf?

I don't understand what you are talking about either :(

if you ask her "what are you thinking about" she will respond with "I don't understand blabla" & then ANYTHING you say after she will not understand..

Actually, Siri works just fine, after you say that, IF you return to using it normally and don't expect it to understand stuff that you'd say to a person, because it isn't a person!M

How dare you say she is not a person! She has feelings ya kno'!

(tots jokin) :)

The corret response should have been

The correct response should have been "What kind of idiot asks asks an app inside a phone what they are thinking?" Apparently Siri has been embued with too much class to be totally candid.

These constant attempts to ask the app (not "she" - an app) totally ridiculous and absurd questions is becoming ludicrous. I don't understand the motivation to "fool" a digital program. It's like trying to get the iCal app to do math - and then discovering the app can't do calculus.

And then feeling the need to report it to all and sundry.

Dopey...:p

I think your key point here is that after asking such a question (which is fun, and which a lot of people are doing and enjoying) she gets into a mode where she's less than normally responsive.

There are two solutions"

1) say: "Start Over", (That works for any request that leaves her waiting for a decision from you.)

2) dismiss her by clicking the home button, and then restart by pressing and holding the home button (as you implied)

I'm not sure which is faster.

thank you for the response :)

BTW - the only reason I asked an "app" what was she thinking about because when I asked her what was she doing she said "Just thinking" so... the next question was pretty obvious:)

Every time I ask "what's the weather like in Spain" Siri always says Spean which it obviously doesn't understand. No matter how many times I try to say it as clearly as possible.

thanks Sherlock

Well, don't ask stupid questions and you won't get stupid answers. Why the heck are you asking a AI "What are you thinking". It's a very stupid question that you know Siri cannot answer. Because Siri follows a conversation, all you do is restart her and she forgets what you were talking about. I do it all the time.

Get with it.

Telling him to not ask weird question is not a solution. The bug is still there.

He could simply have asked her a question that she misunderstood like:

-"What's the weather like today?"

Siri: OK... how about a web search for 'What's Wilelen up today'?

-"What's the weather like today?

Siri: OK... how about a web search for 'What's the weather like today'?

-"Is it gonna rain today?"

Siri: OK... how about a web search for 'Is it gonna rain today'?

and in this case the bug is still present whitout any weird question asked.

The problem is that once she can't answer one request she starts not understanding stuff that she normally would until you start over.

It's my first day of owning a 4S and I noticed it already so I guess it's a pretty common bug.

If it is an obvious bug, why would you feel the need to point it out?

If you followed the posts in this thread you would realize that apparently I was mistaken when I said it was an obvious bug since no one thinks that's a "bug"

Finally someone acknowledging the BUG I was referring to and not focusing on the dumb just-for-fun question I asked :)

Bravo!

simply pointing out an obvious bug :)

Two points:

1) I don't think its a bug, that she's waiting for a response to her question: "Do you want me to search the web?" And needs to be told told to start over. Although every time she asks asks such a question, it would certainly be a lot better if there were a "Start Over" button in addition to a "Search the web" button. SO IMO opinion your general point (about needing to leave and come back or knowing to say "Start Over"), is perfectly valid, with regards to ALL similar circumstances. (many of which have nothing to do with silly questions.)

2) I think everyone who's getting on you for "asking a dumb question" is completely missing the point. So many people are having fun asking siri silly questions, its part of the deal. And your question is really much more general than that.
