Hey guys!

Ugh I really need someone’s memory here Lol.

I want to get my partner an iPhone 8 with the iPhone Upgrade Program, but don’t know if I should buy it now or if when they announce the new devices (and if they drop the price of iPhone 8) I’ll be able to finance the new low price.

I feel like last year when they announced the 8/8P/X they immediately stopped iPhone Upgrade Program activations for the 7/7P, but idk.

Thanks!

When we went to upgrade my mother-in-law's phone last year around launch time we weren't able to finance the 7 Plus with Apple's finance offerings, just AT&T. The employees said that Apple's plan is only on their newest phones. I'd assume that the 8/8P would go the same route once new phones are released! I can't remember if the financing stopped being offered at the new announcement or on launch day though.

Once new iPhones are announced, the older iPhones are rendered not eligible for iUP because IUP are only for the latest devices. For example, the day of the September event, the current iPhone released last year becomes not eligible but you can get preapproved to preorder the 2018 iPhone line up once it goes live.

Thank you both! That makes perfect sense. I’ll get the phone today. :)
