When to Expect an AirTag 2 to Launch

Expecting no major changes. Probably in 2025 a new one will be released.

They should steal some ideas from the Galaxy Tag. I was pleasantly surprised about it's functionality when I got them after previously having owned 4 AirTags. You can add routines to it like turning on the light by pressing on it once, customize the alert sound or even track your dogs "work out"

Maybe they will announce it and release it later ? I’ve never seen AirTags on sale in the two countries i live in and all of a sudden the AirTags are now in sale in both countries alongside massive discounts on iPhone 15, Apple Watch and AirPods (products we “know” will be getting upgraded Monday).

I find that changing the battery of AirTags to be incredibly tedious. I have one AirTag that no matter how many times I replace the battery, it drains in two weeks.

Use genuine Panasonic cr2032 (I get them in 12 or 24s packs) I get 1 year and 4-6 months per airtag, I get about the about same for samsung smarttag 1 (1 year 4 months) but forget about the smarttag + model as they are power hogs last less then 3-6 months (also randomly reboot> play battery inserted startup sound)

smarttag 2 seems likely they last same battery life as 1 but can't say yet as only just got tag 2 but they do have a expanded battery saver mode (smarttag + and 2 did run the same firmware because the 2 also did used to have the rebooting bug until they updated it recantly)
