I will be traveling out of the country when the upgrade to iOS 11 will become available. I have multiple download it programs in the Netflix, Amazon prime video, and DirecTV applications. Does anybody have any experience if the shows get deleted when the iOS is upgraded? The main issue is that it will be difficult to download the shows again from a foreign country. I know I could VPN, but some shows have limits on how many times this can be downloaded. It is a long trip, and I would like upgrade, but don’t want to loose the data.

Thanks for any insight.

As long as the installation is successful and doesn't go into endless booting, nothing will be erased from the device.

Basically what Mirollin said. I wonder if you have a computer with iTunes if a full, encrypted backup would also restore if something goes wrong? iCloud backup won’t.

Thats a good question. Because its downloaded data, I don't think iTunes will back it up. For example, if I restore a backup with Real Racing 3, I will be required to redownload all the files upon launching the app for the first time. I think its how the downloaded data is saved. If its saved as a temp file, or part of the app itself. Real Racing data is saved as a temp.

I'm pretty sure if you have Netflix shows downloaded locally to the device and you're not streaming them, it'll save in the backup.
