When using a laptop stand, how to turn off/on MBP?

I'm thinking about changing my set up a little bit so that I put my MBP on a stand similar to this one:

For those that shut down and then turn on their computer, is there any way to do this while using a stand like so? ^

I'm assuming that everyone that uses a stand similar to that probably just sleeps their laptop and restarts it when necessary?

You have to remove it from the stand if you want to power on. It works more conveniently for people who just put it to sleep.

I really wish (and with TB3 thought) Apple would allow a remote power-on call over wire to their pc's. Would be nice.
