When using the mic to input text, the keyboard goes away, what is the point of this?
Usually the first thing before sending you need to add or fix text, which require the keyboard
why did they make this change?

I agree, it does seem a pointless change, especially for those of us that use dictation regularly.

You can retrieve the keyboard, however, by pressing the little white keyboard icon in the bottom right of the new screen.

True but why make this change at all? They should have left it the way that it was. ;(

All you have to do is train yourself to tap the keyboard key instead of the microphone key after you’re done speaking.

You probably forgot that in prior iOS versions you would tap the microphone key when you were done dictating and needed to make a correction with the keyboard anyway. The new way is the same amount of effort. What is confusing is the fact that the keyboard disappears and the microphone key is huge and in the center.

Dictate and tap the keyboard key when finished. It’s the same effort and workflow. You’ll see.

Huh, I don't remember that but I'll try it.
Not sure why they changed it, don't see what it helped.
Thank you.
