When was butterfly keyboard added to MBA?

I might want to get a used MBA and was trying to figure when the last MBA was released without the butterfly keyboard (before the new MBA, I mean). Anyone know? Did the second gen 2017 MBA have the butterfly keyboard?

2018 is Butterfly...

The MacBook Pro got the butterfly keyboard with the 2016 models, but this thread is about the MacBook Air, which got the butterfly keyboard with the retina screen 2018 models.

I am aware the MBP and MBA are so different.
i knew the MBP was the first but unsure how many years if any the MBA got its butterfly kb. At least the op got a start date to work with.

The MBP wasn't the first, the 2015 MacBook was. Then came the 2016 MacBook Pro. Then the 2018 MacBook Air.
