Many people love the touch bar, that's because many people can't touch type and never use function keys, for these people, the majority of users, its a much better solution than learning shortcuts and function keys for each app.

Now I get its not going to be for everyone but hey nothing is for everyone, get over it and buy something else and move on.

I think its better than the old function row because it has more functions in the same space.

I definitely liked the Touch Bar more than the FN keys when I had the 2016 model...returned it for other reasons, but overall I thought it had more positives than negatives. Honestly the volume and brightness sliders were very cool. If it had Taptic feedback it would definitely be an improvement.

I've been enjoying the touchbar when using Photos. It's made favoriting, navigating and editing photos much faster than using the mouse. This surprised me. Also makes me want to explore how it is used in other programs.

What do you consider general consensus? A bunch of geeks on Internet forums? I’m sure average consumers which is a much higher number of people are perfectly fine with the touchbar

You're sure based on what information?

In my opinion and observations, I generally see the "average consumer" looking at whatever is the least expensive. In best buy for example this is typically the 13-inch air if looking at a mac or a pc beyond that.

For me it is lacking haptic feedback, knowing and feeling you are touching something would be great!

This.

1000 times this.

This feedback would make a touchbar more useful than a touch screen IMO. I'm not sure how much it would cost to implement, but it would give me a reason to go from the nTB to the TB.

At the place I am at, the Air sells like mad, and recent sales have consumers snatching them up like an injured fish in shark infested waters. It has to be one of Apple's best selling portables based on quantity of units sold, and I imagine this is a reason they did not kill the Air!! It still gets tremendous attention from average consumers because it's a solid machine that can meet most needs at a price point that makes it competitive with mid-level Windows PCs.
