There is A LOT of messed up things like the "ducking" thing happening. With Apple it chooses, with Google it seems to find the right word that fits the sentence .

I think what Google did in the early 2000's and through 2010 or so with the free 411 made there service as good as it is today. The purpose of the free 411 system was to collect info on speech and that has translated directly to text. That is why Google voice recognition or auto fill is much better than apples. They used the public for almost a decade building it up unkowenely.

Not sure if any of you knew about there 411 service

Well I think there should be a setting on the phone to toggle between nsfw language and sanitized language. That way you'd have the best of both worlds- it would try to filter out cuss words when it's on, and autocorrect to them when it's not.

Although in the last 1-2 years, my office of accountants has gone from no nsfw language at all in the open areas, only occasionally in a private office, to everyone just openly throwing f-bombs as part of their everyday speech, so I don't know what is going on, if it's a big cultural shift or something.

Why not? Last time I checked this was a discussion forum.

To the OP, yes this happens quite often, but it's not a complaint I would have.

Wow... Every post almost in this thread says the same thing as mine and you choose mine? I should feel special I guess. I'm the one who said I understand the complaint. Yet you chose mine... LOL... It still doesn't change my opinion that the thread wasn't needed but thanks for your input in this discussion forum.

My suggestion to you is to go read this guys other threads then get back to me! Yeah he thinks of some pretty good discussions for this "discussion forum."

Apple would get a bad rap for allowing autocorrect to spell any profanity. They want to keep it family friendly so they have more customers. Autocorrect has never by default spelled profanities and if you're so ducking annoyed with it why dont you type out "fu**ing" 10 times or so? That way autocorrect will recognize it as a word.

You could add a keyboard shortcut for the word.

Go to settings -> general -> keyboard -> shortcuts

Then add a new one, type the word you want into the phrase field and you can leave the shortcut field blank.

There are also plenty of words that, when left stand-alone, they're corrected, but once you add additional words the keyboard will use the context and change the word, even if it's several words back; i.e., U.S. vs us - if you just type "us" it may change to U.S., but if you say "would you like to go with us to the movie?" it'll recognize that "us" is "us" and change it back once you finish typing "...to the movie". I've been pretty impressed with the contextual correction.

And yes, just type it the way you want it a few times and it'll stop auto-correcting to the other words. "Shot" was probably my most over-corrected-to word.

I know what you're saying (and that has worked out for me in the past), but in this particular case, I think I typed "us." at the end of a sentence and it changed to U.S. for no reason.

It also frequently changes other "real" (and non-obscene) words to words it seems to prefer, seemingly without regard for context. My guess (could be wrong) is that it simply calculates by probability - e.g., "You just typed 'gushing,' but people rarely use that word, you must have meant 'rushing'." [Not a real example, but you get the point.] This is incredibly annoying when it happens.

It will learn to not autocorrect the swear word. The problem is they can't put it into the autocorrect dictionary because they don't want words to be autocorrected to it.

Like another user pointed out this is the least of my concerns. I don't want commonly used words to be changed "autocorrected" to something else like us to U.S. or do to so or gave to have, etc etc. THAT is what annoys me.

I only get ducking if I misspell ***king.
