I want to know when Apple will release the next iPhone and also what name will be given to it. Do you think Apple will go ahead and name it iPhone 12?
Well the next iPhone is the one at the end of March...
Possible names are SE2, iPhone 9 or simply iPhone. Even at this late stage, no one really knows, let alone the main iPhone event in September but iPhone 12 is expected.
iPhone 5G
Apple won't call it something boring like "iPhone 12." They'll want to promote the biggest selling point, the 5G radio.

I don't know about that. They probably don't want to risk people thinking it's some throwback to the iPhone 5/5s/5c line.

I’m guessing September 2020.
Get a job at Apple in a department that has a "need to know." Then you'll know, but not be able to tell anyone.I want to know when Apple will release the next iPhone and also what name will be given to it. Do you think Apple will go ahead and name it iPhone 12?
Call it a hunchNot sure how you arrived with that conclusion but i'll go with it.
It is supposedly going to be a big update, I doubt they will go with "S" this year. What would be the most logical, in my head, is 11s, 11s Pro, and 11s Pro Max. Unless we're just ending the S naming scheme now.
Oh, and the March one, SE 2.
X wasn't released in September, it was released in November. The iPhone 4S was released in October and screwed up a lot of iPhone 5 and 5S preorders since most were a month shy of upgrade eligibility.4S - September ‘11

I'm not sure how many consumers will confuse 5G with an iPhone introduced eight years ago. I think everyone in the market for a premium smartphone has heard of 5G. And the risk to Apple? A small number of people mistakenly believe iPhone 5G is an updated iPhone 5 and hold off upgrading? If Apple can successfully sell the iPhone Xs and XR next to each other, I don't think selling a 5G device and calling it 5G will be difficult.
