Hi, I understand the preorder for iPhone XR starts at 10/19 and will be available at 10/26. However, I would like to test it out before placing an order, does anyone know which date will iPhone XR be available on display for customers to test it out? the 19th or the 26th?

Thanks!

Normally the day that the phone is available to be purchased at the store. OCTOBER 26.

I do think Apple should put these in stores before actual launch so we could see them before ordering. I think it would cut down a lot on buyers remorse returns.

But hey, if Apple is fine with eating that cost, so be it.

I agree with this. They clearly have a bunch made. Just let people see them ahead of time and decide if its for them. If I get mine and its noticeably bad, it's going right back and Apple will eat the cost.

True, but on the flip side I don't think Apple wants to have demo products on the floor that aren't technically "for sale" (even if actual ship date pushed out further than launch day).

I also wonder if they don't really mind returns so they build up stock of refurbished phones for replacements.

makes sense but imagine the headache they'd go thru with ppl yelling that they are displaying products that aren't for sale? some people are ruthless at the end of the day and will cause a scene.

Given Apple marks up the price of their products by 2.5 to 3X vs. materials cost, it costs Apple virtually nothing to accept a return and resell it.

*insert "I want to speak with a manager" meme ;)

Very true. Regular Apple fans here understand production ship times/launch dates/pre-order/etc... However having worked in retail, general public will go insane over minor things. Screaming, crying, throwning stuff, escorted out by security, etc... Just take a peak at YouTube customer meltdowns.

reminds me of the time i was at the genius bar trying to get my iPhone replaced cause the speaker stopped working and the lady beside me was furious that apple refused to give her a brand new phone for free because she broke her iPhone 5 (this was last year.. a phone that's 5 years old and it was water damaged IIRC). i was about to tell her to shut up and have some respect for the staff but i had to go.

I outta bring in my first generation iPhone and tell them I need a new one too.

lol

I can assure you that Apple doesn't "eat" this cost. You do.

Exchanges/returns are commonplace nowadays in nearly all industries. That cost is already factored into the price of the product you buy. It's all about averages. Will everyone return/exchange their iPhone? - No. But it does happen, at the end of the day, the consumer absorbs those costs.

Not much different from how insurance companies make money. Will everyone have a car accident? - No. Will the insurance still make a butt load of money if you and your grandma get into car accidents? - Yes.

Yeah I suppose the customers might kick up a fuss, but I’ve seen Samsung phones on display before preorders began. That’s helped me make final color and model size choices.

It definitely would be nice, especially with a late launch like this. I'm torn between Max and XR. If I don't like the XR I won't bother with a preorder. As of right now I'll probably preorder anyway just to get in in my hand to see what I really think. Then hassle with a return if I have to. My local Apple stores have had several Max combinations in stock for a while despite the 10/18+ delivery dates through Apple.

These iphones may sell out in the blink of an eye because they are new and budget-friendly, so keep that in mind.

I would say that’s dependent on the color, being that Apple is offering *six* new colors, that’s a much wider selection and variety for the consumer to choose versus just two colors versus with other iPhone models.

The 26th. They’ve never had new releases out before they were available.

Yeah, anyone considering an XR should definitely get a personal hands on experience with it before buying one. At this point, it seems, there are so many  salesmen or haters masquerading as reviewers on YouTube that you pretty much can't rely on them giving any straight advice. Fake reviews.

I went on launch day yesterday October 26. They didn’t have not one in the store for purchase and will not have any for weeks they said. They must be purchased online in the store and may take 1-2 weeks for me to get. It’s not even like they had any and they sold out they are just not carrying them in stores I was told.

Att and T-Mobile had plenty in stock to purchase yesterday in store. I got mine there. I don’t get it.

Very strange- plenty here in southern CA!
(Mostly all colors and all storage sizes, my screenshot is just example of Blue 256GB)
