there are already quite a few threads on this. why not search?
No one outside of Apple knows when the next anything is coming out. People inside Apple keep their mouths shut to avoid the wrath of Steve, which can lead to banishment in the outer darkness.

from what I've read they don't really need to be announced at all - the store can just go down & come back up with new iMacs

That wouldn't surprise me at all.
There probably won't be a redesign.
    Lion isn't ready.
Trucks, er, computers, don't qualify for orgasmic iHype media events.
Hopefully it will just be a nice CPU, GPU & SSD upgrade.
I've given up hope for BD and non-iMirror screens.

The sooner the better. I had a 27 inch version of the i7 for about a week while my MacBook was getting fixed and I loved it. Can't wait for the new version with the smokin sandy bridge chips. No need to redesign. Just give me an quad core i7 256 ssd + 2tb 7200rpm data drive and a good video gpu and I'll be set for five years.

iMirror, ROFLMAO,. but seriously, these glossy screens are the WORST ever, but the look pretty when the system is turned off, its not like mr Jobs every puts functionality BEFORE prettiness is it.

I Would love the next iMacs to come with a matt screen option

I want a sandy bridge imac

I feel like I am waitting for something that should be out already!!

I am wantting to switch over from PC to Mac and looking forward to it but it is hard to wait when the Rest of the computing world can have something already and Apple just sits waitting around.

I know that they are comming out with some new tech (Thunderbolt) but that is out being that they already have released it with the MBP.

I know that I am not alone waitting for this to come out already but apple it is time to let us know!! I know that I can build a PC with Sandy Bridge TODAY for less and have a Really fast system on the PC side. Why does it take apple so long to do so. It seams that they are still tring to get eveyone to over pay $2000 + for an outdated system. Not saying that the i7 is a bad system just that its tech is over 2 years aold already, And a Replacement is Avilable already.

I know It sounds as if I am bitching and I dont mean too I just need to vent a bit for I have been waitting to do this switch over and with out a computer besides my laptop now for almost 2 months now and waitting for somthing if I was willing to give up OSX that I could have NOW. Sucks

The old iMac 27 Ultimate I just bought last week will be my first ever mac. I have built my own PC since the 90's and have only run stable windows systems. But I needed to try new stuff so I've changed to Apple. If it disappoints me I know I can go back to building my own PC and fir the same cash make my own stable running PC with top top top of the line stuff for the price if the iMac 27 Ultimate I just bought. My last PC had 3 SSD drives, 16 gb ram, i7 2600 k cpu , Noctua NH 14 cpu Coolermaster, Noctua low noise fans, Gainward 6970 GPU card 2 gb ram, 2 x 2 tb HDD and it ran as fast as he-ll and very stable !!

Apple is like the Danish B&O ( from my country ). It will always take years to adopt new technology, but it will run (pretty) stable when they finally decide to use the ' new ' technology. And price will be higher than the competitors. That's Apple and B&O in a nutshell.

Accept it or buy another brand.

I'm exactly in the same position as you ;/ tbh I wouldn't really mind the current system, if they didn't rip us of on the SSDs

It will be just a hardware bump. The big redesign is in 2012.
