If you had to make an educated guess, when would you guess Nehalem will appear in MacBooks?

Given Apples rate of progress, Q4 2010. After stock has been cleared from the 2010 back to school promotion.

So, is an August or September release of a Nehalem MacBook completely unrealistic?

Yes. The only thing by that time would be a revised Macbook and Snow Leopard. No Nehalem though.

Completely, those chips won't be in production before Q4 maybe even Q1-2010. Cpu speed bumps/ram/storage/better screens/resolution yes.

great question, i was going to ask something similar in the macbook pro forum.

i'm in the market for a new macbook, and apparently i seem to be feeling the early shock/consumer paranoia of the impending core i7 hype. which invariably leads to the historic "should i wait?" question, and sounds like i shouldn't.
