Hi, i've had my first new mbp for about a month now, i set up time machine a few days ago. Today it saved about 300mb when it did it's backup, i really hadn't added any files since the last one that I could think of.... but i did software update itunes/qt/front row that came out. So i'm sure that the actual program data added some bulk.

My question is are there installer files, or whatever they happen to be called, that software update downloads before you install that are stored somewhere that can be deleted and are unnecessary as if you had downloaded an update yourself?

I tried searching in spotlight, didn't find anything. I assume they are probably stored in some system folder that does not display in spotlight.

    Are we there yet?
The backup that time machine did was probably the updated apps. I don't know for certain that the downloads get stored anywhere, but I personally have never seen any big jump in disk usage with any of the upgrades. Keep in mind that Mac OS is not the same as Windows.
