Where are my backups?

I was having issues with email so I tried doing a restore. I lost all recent data on the phone except apps. New contacts and texts are gone... Where can I find my backups? Also, does the phone back up every time you plug into computer and connect with itunes because the backup I used was old?

I think every time you sync thru iTunes it backs up the phone. You might had a recent back up but restored to an old one. It should give you the date of the backup you're restoring to. There should be more than one.

Where are they? I just restored again and there were only 2 choices and I sync all the time.

They are saved inside your iTunes folder. If you only have 2 available then that's all you got backed up.
