I heard about the 1 TB 3.5" PATA/SATA drives and was wondering who sells those at the moment.
I didn't think anyone did quite yet?
I would be surprised to see these in a PATA config. The company that announced them was Hitachi.
1 Tb drives are a bit like the 8 core Mac pro ....... somewhere over the rainbow
Yeah but I really am looking forward to getting some if they exist. Any ideas guys?
They do exist (SATA) but I have yet to find a vendor that has or is expecting them. If you need one your only solution is to buy a Dell with one (or more) and then scrap/sell the machine minus the HDD.
A 1 Tb external is available from Formac
I think only as a 2x500. You can get those from most vendors, though.
You're right. I checked the Dell website and they have the 1 TB as a special upgrade!
My goodness now why didn't Apple get some?
I was going to post about Western Digital's WorldBook 1TB external drive.. but just remembered that its 2x500..
Yeah, mirrored RAID drives don't quite count since you can't install onto a regular desktop
Seagate and Hitachi both have them coming I think
Should be out by the summer
I don't think I follow this part..?
You can't connect mirrored drives to the SATA interface (or PATA) within a desktop. Won't fit.
Oh, I see what you're saying..
The WorldBook drives are external anyway, aren't they?
