Where are the 2.7GHz Quad G5's?

It's kind of a long story. 2 years ago I had a perfectly good Compaq Dual Xeon - with hyperthreading it looks like 4 CPU's - then I started hanging out here. Soon I placed my order for a new Dual 2Ghz Power Mac and didn't have anywhere to put the Compaq. The ex-wife was in need of a new PC so I basically gave it to her (don't ask). 😎 Over the last couple of years that box has been abused. Windows was infested with viruses and spyware and the inside of the box was full of dust and dirt. Anyways, I finally got sick of supporting her PC issues and convinced her to buy a Mac (Mini) this month. I got my Compaq back and cleaned it up. Now it runs OS X for Intel.dmw007 said:

I ran XBench on them both last night. I opted to turn off the video options though (which killed the overall score against the benchmark) because the nVidia drivers for OS X Intel I'm using for my graphics card don't yet support Quartz Extreme or hardware acceleration. Bottom line though, the Power Mac beats the Xeon. Consider though, that the Mac has 4GB of RAM and the PC only has 1GB. Not sure how that would affect the score. With graphics options on, my Mac scored a 97. Without, it scored a 76 and the Xeon scored 68 against the benchmark.dmw007 said:
XBench is a pretty useless benchmarking utility as the results are so random. My 3.6 GHz P4 can mop the floor with my old 1.42 Ghz PPC Mini (I now have the Intel Core Solo), but my Mini would score higher in XBench regardless of the fact that my P4 was CLEARLY faster.
As well, IBM really does have 3.0 GHz G5 chips. I was speaking with a known IBM employee and he was talking about it and how Apple just wasn't interested for some reason or other. I think it was a cooling issue as they required a bit more cooling, but the G5 chips did hit 3.0 Ghz and WORKED.
