I just ordered my first power mac. aftere setting it all up adding a little more ram ect. the BTO ship date is two weeks..Not too bad but where are they made. Can anyone explain the proccess from internet order to in my hot little hands. Just curious🙂
 
CTO units come out of California.

I believe the stock models are made in China, but I could be wrong.

Ok so china builds em...ship's em to Cali. you order a BTO and sombody in cali stuffs ram and video cards in them and ships em out.

where did you see where it was made?

i have a BTO, would that make a difference?
 
Powermacs are assembled in Cork, Ireland. Not sure about BTO's (Built to order)

If the serial number starts with CK that means Cork. I'm not sure what the other serial number prefixes are.

There's an article that decodes several of the factory prefixes here. It'll also tell you other interesting stuff about your Mac (well, if you find manufacturing dates interesting, that is 😛).
