I, too, am patiently waiting for these standalone Security Update installers!

I prefer to download them from work on a PC (using my employer's super-fast internet connection). From home it would take me several hours to download just the Catalina security update (900 kbps max download speed). To update my mom's Mac from her home would take even longer (550 kbps max download speed).

Come on, Apple! 😟

AWESOME! Thank you so very much!

Just for the heck of it I started downloading the Catalina update from home:

Wow, I'm getting 123 KB/sec (984 Kb/sec) this evening, a little faster than usual.

DOWNLOAD CANCELLED! I'll download it from work first thing tomorrow.

any idea on how to install these on machines which are not connected to the network?

installed the standalone 2021-003 successfully on my networked connected machine,
but the installer fails almost immediately on our test machine which cannot be attached to the network.

both machines started from catalina 19H524

When I've installed the last several standalone Catalina security updates on my 2018 Mac mini, the installer has had to download additional data (approximately 400-500 MB) before performing the actual installations. From what I can tell this data is new Boot ROM firmware. In fact, if I use Software Update under System Preferences on my Mac mini to check for new software updates, the sizes of the security updates show as being 400-500 MB larger than the standalone installers.

Since Boot ROM firmware would be Mac model-specific, it's not included in the standalone installers. Unfortunately, I don't know how to go about downloading it separately. :(
