Well? What did you do with them? Where did you store them?

This is not a drill, soldier!

Like Doctor Q ordering you to take a backup right now, I'm talking about these:

Grey install discs that come with your Mac. They're important. Don't just stash them with your unwanted and scratched Spice Girls and Hanson CDs. Put them in jewel cases, keep them with the Mac box or put them with your precious bought and paid-for CDs and DVDs.

You'll need them at some point, whether for trouble-shooting your Mac, or trying to sell it in the future. So where are they?!

:::

In August of 2007, I wanted to do a system restore for my MBP, and reached for my discs. I ended up reaching for the two Disc 2s provided, quickly noticing that there was no Disc 1.

OS 10.4 discs are in my MacBook box in my closet on the top right-hand shelf. My OS 10.5 discs are on my bookcase on the third shelf down from the top in the right-hand side corner.:D:cool:

Book cabinet in parents computer room, right of the iMac.

When I had to do a clean install of my iBook, it took me a week to find those damn things.....

My 10.4 discs are in the closet, in the big MBP box on the top shelf that's hard to reach. My 10.5 disc is at an ex-girlfriend's apartment, and imaged onto "volumes/my book/.backups/" and "~/.backups" for good measure.

Hah, good idea BV.

I've been doing some heavy tidying and found my PowerBook restore disc thingies. iMac ones are up on the shelf. All's good in this house!

I still have them for my old Powerbook, but since then I've upgraded OS X, and iLife, so is there anything they would be useful for apart from troubleshooter maybe?
