Next OS: you mean NeXTSTEP?

I don't think it is freeware yet. I know you can find it online somewhere...
Best bet is to find a VMware image of NeXTSTEP. It surely is the easiest way to try it out on modern hardware.
Even better is getting an old NeXT computer! 😎
