where can i get a 4.0.1 restore download?

i dled one and extracted the file and when it gets done extracting it says the restore does not exsist
 
rename it before i dl it? i renamed it on my desk top and nothin really changed. isnt suppose to come up as a block?

Yes, before you download it.
If you're using windows click save, then save as type: all files
Then 1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw for example and then click save.
But make sure it ends in .ipsw
 
ok i got the dl. do i need to restore my phone from a previous restore then put the 4.0 on it? i tried to restore it with 4.0 in itunes and it said my phone wasnt requested for this build. do i need to update my itunes?
 
i did save my shsh on cydia. but do i need to restore to my previous restore of 3.1.2 and then restore it with the 4.0?
 
i know the info is there but when i hit restore and when it gets to the part where it says apple is verifying the update it has an error message
 
ok i ran it as admin but it requires a password..i swear if not one thing its another. i do appreciate the help you all are giving me
 
it says which user account do you want to use to run this account.
when i select current user and hit ok error message come up and says error opening media file. please move this file to an ascii-only path like c:/.
if i choose to do it as admin it requires a pw
im using windows xp
 
yeah umbrella 4.1.4. do i have to do this in order to put the 4.0.1 software on my phone? i thought all i needed to do was agree with it on cydia
